issues<\/li><li>Facial pain<\/li><li>Dementia<\/li><li>Parkinsonism<\/li><li>Coordination issues<\/li><li>Burning or prickling sensations<\/li><li>Weakness<\/li><li>Apathy<\/li><li>Failure to thrive<\/li><\/ul><p>Symptoms related to increased pressure such as headaches, nausea and vomiting.\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Other dAVF symptoms\u00a0<\/strong>can include hearing issues, such as a bruit behind the ear, also known as pulsatile tinnitus.\u00a0<\/p><p>Other symptoms include vision problems such as:<\/p><ul><li>Visual deterioration<\/li><li>Eye bulge<\/li><li>Swelling in the eye lining<\/li><li>Eye-related palsies<\/li><li>Cavernous sinus syndrome.<\/li><li>In rare cases, progressive dementia may occur due to venous hypertension.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9a982fd elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"9a982fd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Diagnosis:<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c788a82 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c788a82\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><b>CT head\u00a0:\u00a0<\/b>These tests can show fluid buildup caused by heightened cortical vein blood pressure as well as actual bleeding, which may be caused by a dAVF but occur elsewhere in the brain\u2019s venous system.<\/p><p><b>MRI\u00a0:<\/b>\u00a0These images can establish the shape and extent of a dAVF, detect any micro-hemorrhages (very small bleed locations), and determine the impact of any abnormal blood vessel structures related to the fistula itself.<\/p><p><b>Angiography :\u00a0<\/b>Catheter-based cerebral angiography (also known as digital subtraction angiography) is still the most reliable and definitive tool on dAVF diagnosis.\u00a0<\/p><p>It\u2019s essential for defining:<\/p><ul><li>How many fistulae exist and where<\/li><li>Anatomy of the external carotid arteries and any branches between them and the dura<\/li><li>Fistula blood vessels\u2019 structure<\/li><li>Whether cardiovascular disease is also present<\/li><li>How much narrowing or blockage has occurred in the dural sinus<\/li><li>Whether any affected veins are dilated and to what extent<\/li><li>Superselective angiography may also be required to identify the area of convergence of the feeding dural arteries and the origin of the draining vein.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fb4516c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"fb4516c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Treatment:\n<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4cc6537 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4cc6537\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Treatment for dural arteriovenous fistula generally involves surgery to block or disconnect the fistula.<\/p><p><b>Endovascular procedures :<\/b>\u00a0In an endovascular procedure, your doctor may insert a long, thin tube (catheter) into a blood vessel in your leg or groin and thread it through blood vessels to the dural arteriovenous fistula using X-ray imaging.\u00a0Your doctor inserts the catheter into the blood vessel that leads to the dAVF and releases coils or a glue-like substance to block the abnormal connection in the blood vessels.<\/p><p><b>Stereotactic radiosurgery :\u00a0<\/b>In stereotactic radiosurgery your doctor uses precisely focused radiation to block the abnormal connection in the blood vessels. The high dose of radiation delivered to the fistula causes blood vessels to close off, destroying the dAVF. The different types of technology used to perform dAVF stereotactic radiosurgery include the linear accelerator (LINAC), Gamma Knife and proton beam therapy.<\/p><p><b>dAVF surgery :\u00a0<\/b>If an endovascular procedure or stereotactic radiosurgery aren\u2019t options for you, you may need dAVF surgery.
